A classic treat that can easily be made with healthier, more wholesome ingredients. Donuts are so versatile and can be made into countless different flavors! I love playing around with different flavors & toppings. These donuts are completely oil-free and can easily be made gluten-free! I used a Sprouted White Wheat flour but you can use practically any flour you wish. I have the written recipe for the donuts and some topping ideas too! Of course these donuts are baked instead of fried and I used a handy nonstick donut pan. I give another option if you don't have a donut pan in the recipe video at the end of this post!

The Donuts:

Ingredients:

  • 2 flax eggs (2 tbs ground flax, 6 tbs water)
  • 2 cups flour (oat flour, all-purpose, spelt, buckwheat, etc)
  • 2/3 cup sugar (organic cane sugar, coconut sugar)
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 3/4 cup non-dairy milk
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Make your flax egg and place in the fridge to set, about 10 minutes
  3. In a large bowl combine the flour, sugar, and baking powder
  4. In a smaller bowl combine the non-dairy milk, applesauce, and vanilla
  5. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and gently fold together
  6. Place batter into a piping bag or a plastic bag and snip the corner off
  7. Pipe into the donut pan until about 3/4 of the way full
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes. The donuts should be slightly golden and bounce back when touched
  9. Let cool for about 10 minutes in the pan then remove carefully and let sit until completely cool

Toppings:

Chocolate Glaze:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup non dairy chocolate (I used chocolate chips)
  • 2-3 tbs non dairy milk

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl add the chocolate and the milk
  2. Melt in a double boiler or in the microwave in 30 second intervals stirring in between
  3. Remove from the heat and let sit until slightly cooled and is thicker
  4. Drizzle onto the donuts or dip the donuts into this glaze for a perfectly chocolatey treat!

Peanut Butter Glaze:

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup powdered peanut butter
  • 3-5 tbs of water

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl combine powdered peanut butter with 1 or 2 tbs of water
  2. Add the water 1 tbs at a time until you get a thick and creamy consistency
  3. Drizzle or dip onto donuts for a sweet and salty combo!

Vanilla Glaze:

Ingridients:

  • 1 cup organic powdered cane sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of sea salt
  • 3-4 tbs of nondairy milk
  • Natural food coloring (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl combine all the sugar, vanilla, and salt. Then add one tbs of milk at a time, mixing in between each addition
  2. Once you have reached a consistency that is thin enough to drizzle but still sticks to the donut, you can stop adding in milk
  3. Dip donuts in halfway or completley coat them for a classic glazed finish

Topping Combos:

  1. Peanut Butter Drizzle with roasted peanuts
  2. Chocolate Dip with sea salt
  3. Chocolate & Peanut Drizzle with peanuts
  4. Vanilla Glaze with coconut
  5. Chocolate dip with coconut
  6. And so many many more combos!

Veganism doesn't have to be hard, unappetizing, or unhealthy. I here to show people how to make delicious healthy recipes free of many allergens like gluten but with an extra healthy twist. Many of the recipes are completley grain-free, refined sugar-free, oil-free, and made with ingredients that are of course plant based and as close to the whole plant form as possible. There less processed it is, the better. I also write blog posts on living a vegan lifestyle. Veganism isn't just about not eat animals and their byproducts, but also not buying leather or buying cosmetic products from companies who test on animals. I am here to help people on their journey to a life free of cruelty but full of positivity and happiness. I share my vegan story, cruelty free skin care routine, makeup routines, eco-friendly household products, ethical fashion, yoga and meditation, zero waste essentials, how to throw a vegan party, pantry essentials, and so many more!
