Everglades Wonder Gardens
If you are ever in Southwest Florida and want to get out and explore, I suggest the Everglades Wonder Gardens! They are a non-profit focused on rescuing, rehabilitating, and preserving nature and the animals in the area. They started in 1936 as a tourist attraction but have since grown! They now have summer camps, volunteer opportunities, and educational projects to help inform their community.
All of their animals have been rescued and/or rehabilitated. On their website, they have little videos on a lot of their animals and how they ended up at the Wonder Gardens. They are super cute and I highly recommend watching them!
Aside from having critters like peacocks, talking birds, and a ton of gators, they also have an 80+ year old botanical garden! It is absolutely breathtaking! Full of ancient cacti, large succulents, beautiful tropical flowers and trees. There are small ponds inside the gardens that make the home for lily pads and aid the growth of the plant life around it.
