Vegan Food In Denver Colorado

Didn't get to spend nearly as much time in Denver as I would have liked, but that means I have an excuse to go back. If you read my Boulder Colorado Guide, then you would know how much food I ate there. But that was not even the best of it. Most of my favorite things that I ate during this trip was from the neighboring big city of Denver. There are so many vegan restaurants in Denver with lots of fun little gems hidden in the shadows of the big buildings. Below are all the places I went and everything I tried in detail. If you want to see EVERYTHING  I ate in Colorado, watch the video linked at the end of this post!

Vital Root:

Um yes to this place. I literally wanted to try every single thing on their menu but there just was't room in my tummy for that unfortunately. Not all vegan but pretty much everything vegetarian can be made vegan. The atmosphere in the restaurant itself is so cute  with so much openness, especially when they open up the garage doors and have the patios open. They have a breakfast menu with so much good stuff on it and a lunch/dinner menu too. They have a ton of baked good in the front case that are all must tries based on what I had. Everyone in there is so nice and can help you navigate the menu for vegan options.

I tried a few desserts from the case they were all to die for. The Beet Brownie is a must if it is available. It is basically a moist chocolate cake with icing in it. What is not to love? It does have slight beet taste, but for someone who loves beets, it's a go from me! And can we talk about the color of the icing for a minute?!? Stunning. I also tried the Cacao + Hemp Cookie which was so crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside. Just how I like my cookies. I also had the raw truffle which was good but would have been better if I would have had that first. Warning: It is not sweet, have it first before the brownie!

From the regular menu I ordered the Korean BBQ Vegetable Wings which are seriously the best thing I have ever put in my mouth. Yes they are fried. Yes they are unhealthy. And yes they are delicious and worth everything to try them. They come with multiple dipping sauces (one is not vegan so make sure you mention that when ordering). One is the BBQ and it is a perfect balance of spicy and smoky. The other is a creamy aioli. So so so good. The vegetables are just broccoli and cauliflower. Both were literally perfectly cooked and I could have eaten three orders of them.

For the main entree, I got to try the Banh Mi Tacos and the Coconut Quinoa Pancakes. For the Tacos, they have a breakfast option with hash browns on the side and scrambled tofu inside. I got the regular lunch/dinner option which had the lemongrass tofu inside. Absolutely delicious and has so much flavor. There is a ton of fresh vegetables (radish, fresh herbs, cucumber, jalapeno, pickled vegetables) and sauces to pack quite a punch. The Coconut Quinoa Pancakes might just be the best pancakes I have ever had. And that is saying something. They had this amazing crispy outside with a soft and fluffy inside, perfectly paired with the blueberry compote and maple syrup served on top. Yes to all of that.

If you are in the area, you need to try that place out. There are a ton of cute little places all around that street to check out, including a thrift store just for yoga clothes. That is another yes for me please!

Allegro Coffee Roasters:

If there was one cafe for me to recommend you to visit, it is this place right here. Such a cute little cafe with so much innovative concepts in terms of working conditions. There are a ton of little spots to hangout, work, eat, and drink. The style of the whole place is literally my restaurant goals and their food/tea was not half bad either. The attention to detail was amazing and I was very impressed with the amount of design incorporated with everything. Their cups and sleeves were very simple, the fonts they used, etc was all part of this grand masterpiece of a coffee shop. Wow, that got dramatic quick. Just trying to paint you a picture.

I tried the Raspberry Sparkler which was lemon sparkling water, raspberries, and green tea and shaken up with ice. That was delicious and I would definitely get that again. I also got an iced peppermint tea and a vegan chocolate cookie, which was super delicious. Great little snack, especially if you are there working all day or something. They did have a full kitchen and meal menu which I perused and it all looked really good.

Whit's Frozen Custard:

Such a classy ice cream parlor. Looks just like the old movies but with a modern twist. When I walked in, I had my doubts about the ice cream, but to my surprise they had two flavors. Both were delicious! I ended up getting a waffle cone with a scoop of Mocha Chocolate Chip ice cream but the other option was Coconut Vanilla. It is much more icy compared to what I am used to but still delish! The base is made with Coconut milk and packs a creamy punch.

Little Man Ice Cream:

What an experience! This place is so close to downtown and is in the funniest building ever. Basically a giant milk jug in the middle of the city. I love the creativity! They had a wide range of vegan flavors which were very different compared to the other ice creams I had earlier in the week.

I got a waffle cone of Pina Colada and a cone of Chocolate. Very good and worth it for the whole experience. They also had a Munchies which had peanuts, and marshmallows, white choc chips, butterscotch chips, and all sorts of other stuff. I got to taste it and it was really good too!

Beet Box:

YES YES YES. You need to go here. Everything is vegan and they have gluten free options too. This is literally the cutest bakery ever and I just wanted to sit there and try every thing they offered. Everything was so pretty and made very well. And the owner is from Pittsburgh, so we got to chat for a bit!

They had a ton of donut flavors ranging from berry filled, chocolate, pumpkin, and all the classics in between. They also had the prettiest little cakes, tarts, cupcakes, muffins, and scones too. I took home a Maple Glazed Pumpkin donut, Double Chocolate donut, a Ginger Current Scone, and a Classic Chocolate Chip Cookie. Everything was delicious. I'm not sure if I need to state this or not, but this stuff is not healthy but it's all about balance, right? Very oily but very good! But if you aren't big on donuts, they also had a menu of sammies ranging from a Banh Mi, Avo Melt, and Paninis. Did I mention that they also sold little succulents + cacti in tea cups? Well they do.

Watercourse Foods:

Well this place was no disappointment either. All vegan and had such a nice atmosphere. Very welcoming with great outdoor seating. Their menu was vast to say the least and I wanted to try literally everything on it. They had ice cream, burgers, soups, sandwiches, wraps, mac n' cheese, pancakes, seitan wings, nachos, potstickers, waffles, and the list goes on. You can now see why I wanted to try everything.

Since by this time, we were so full, we only got the Buffalo Tempeh Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries, and Ginger Peach Iced Teas. And that did not disappoint. The tempeh was so flavorful and thick. I have never had anything like it. It was so meaty! The roll is was on was perfectly paired with this sandwich and I could tell a lot of thought had been put into each of their menu items. There was also lettuce, tomato, pickle, 'blue cheese', and mayo on the sandwich which complemented it nicely. The fries became the star of the show with me though. They were maybe the best fries I have ever had. Drooling just thinking about it.
